Description
Doom 2000 is a RTS published in 1998, and an official remake of Dune 2, one of the first RTS game ever, and the one that definitively defined the genre.
Striking a balance between complexity and innovation, Dune 2 was a huge success and laid the foundation for Warcraft; Age of Empires, Command & Conquer and many other RTS games that followed.
The player must choose between three Houses (Atreides, Harkonnen... and Ordos which only exists in these games) and must fight for control of the "spice melange" on the planet Arrakis. The player must harvests spice, build and protect its base, train soldiers, create vehicles, and destroy ennemy.
Dune 2000 has an interface and gameplay similar to Command & Conquer: Red Alert, and unlike in Dune II, the player can select and control multiple units at the same time.
Briefings are now in full motion video. If you choose the Atreids House, you'll see John Rhys-Davies (Professor Arturo in Sliders) talking to you (He is your "mentat"). I find that pretty cool.

Notes
The GruntsMod Edition includes a compilation of patches for optimal gameplay (thanks to the GruntsMod team!).
Regarding settings, I recommend:
- During setup, be sure to select the optional cutscenes (in your preferred language).
- In the configuration settings, don't necessarily use your native resolution, as the game may appear too small.
Please note that this game is not officially available for free download. We offer it here as abandonware for preservation and accessibility purposes. Supporting the original developers is important, so if possible, consider purchasing a game from the same studio, a sequel, a remake, or a remaster...
