The Crew

The Crew is a story-driven racing game and MMO developed by Ivory Tower.

Alex Taylor, the brother of Dayton, the founder of the 5-10 motor club, helps his brother run some errands. However, things don’t go as planned when Dayton is killed. Alex is framed for his murder and sent to prison. Five years later, an FBI agent offers Alex a deal: he will be released if he helps expose a corrupt FBI Special Agent. Alex agrees and sets out on a quest for revenge.

The Crew features a vast open world that is a scaled-down version of the modern United States. The map is divided into five regions, each with its own unique geography and weather conditions. The game's missions can be played solo or with a player's crew. However, the game was online-only. In addition to the standard races, players can take part in "skill challenges." After each mission, a player's score is saved and displayed to all of their friends. Online matchmaking allows up to eight players to compete in a single race.

The official servers were shut down on March 31, 2024, but a group of dedicated fans released a local server emulator (The Crew Unlimited) on September 15, 2025, making the game playable once again.

For those fortunate enough to have owned the game on Steam, it is still available for download there, and you only need to get the upgrade patch (The_Crew_UPGRADE-MLD).

For others, the game has unfortunately been removed from the Ubisoft Connect library (seriously, Ubisoft, I like you, but sometimes you make it really hard to love you…), so you’ll have to get the full and pre-patched version (The_Crew_UPGRADED-MLD).
